Alan King is confident that 2008 Champion Hurdle winner Katchit has regained his racing form ahead of his title defence at the Cheltenham festival. The Champion Hurdle is the main showpiece race on the first day of the festival meeting on Tuesday, 10 March.
The six-year-old did not perform very well in his first three efforts of the season, but King seems to think that some of the old gusto is back ahead of March’s Festival.
BET NOW
Katchit has become something of a forgotten horse recently after a hugely disappointing start to the racing calendar this year. So demoralized was the trainer with the preformance of Katchit in his first three races of the season, he decided to send him away from the stable for a break.
Following his Cheltenham success, Katchit was overcome by Snap Tie at Kempton, Chomba Womba at Wincanton and then made little impact behind Champion Hurdle favourite Binocular in the Boylesports.com International.
But after spending a month with Richard Pitman, Katchit has returned to King’s Barbury Castle stable in Wiltshire in great shape and the trainer admits to being very pleased with him for the first time in months.
It remains to be seen whether Katchit can help the stable equal their success of three victories at Cheltenham last year, it remains to be seen as King concedes he has been "very impressed" by Binocular.
But he still harbours hopes that former Queen Mother Champion Chase winner Voy Por Ustedes can bring success in the Ryanair Chase on the Thursday of the festival and is upbeat about the chances of his novice hurdlers.
Regardless of what lies ahead, King has pointed out that Katchit could be raced over longer distances for the next season.

Every year when the race diary is released for a season, there are three dates that everybody heads straight for, one of them being the Grand National, secondly is the Derby and finally is the big one, the Cheltenham Festival. Millions of pounds are bet every year during Cheltenham week with the Gold Cup on the final day being the main race in the week. This week is an absolute dream for the bookmakers and this is why you see the ones who don’t advertise as much or as big really come out of the woodwork.
This advert is for William Hill and was taken from the Sun newspaper. The main focus on the advert is the fact they have picked three races from the day and listed the odds that they offering on every horse in those three races. They are also offering a fantastic welcome promotion where if you sign up and place a bet of £10 you will receive a free £10 but then after that, for every £10 bet you place they will reward you with another free £10, how good is that?! They also claim that they will offer you the best odds guaranteed which is a strong statement to make.

betus.com, as the title of the website clearly says, this is a website dedicated to betting on sports in the United States. The main thing they are currently promoting is a huge U.S event taking place on Sunday 15th February, and that is Daytona 500.
BET NOW
Below this we see three easy steps to sign up to the site, this is a great way to get new members because for people who are new to these sort of sites probably do think it is quite a long process signing up so BETUS put the potential new member at ease straight away by clearly stating that all you need to do is in their words “register now, fund your account, start winning”. Next to this we then have another eye catcher called Members Benefits, this is great because it’s all well and good signing up but what is it worth?
Well with BETUS you receive some fantastic benefits, at the moment they are a 50% sign up bonus, a free calendar and DVD and free sports magazines, this is a fantastic offer because if there is anything that people like it is free stuff!! One thing I have never seen on any other betting site is that you can have your very own personal account manager, well on BETUS you can, and to make things even better it is a freephone number.
I think this is a tremendous idea because you can contact your account manager to find out about any new offers or promotions that may be available for you to take advantage of.

Tony McCoy, 13-time champion jockey, finally reached his 3000th career jumps win at Plumpton aboard Restless D’Artaix with a narrow victory to the delight of his supporters and trainer Nicky Henderson, although breaking records is not something new for the jockey.
BET NOW
The 34-year-old Irishman has already become the all-time most successful jumps jockey in Britain when on 27 August 2002, he beat Richard Dunwoody’s total winners of 1,699 when riding on Mighty Montefalco at Uttoxeter. He has also beaten Sir Gordon Richards’ record tally of 269 winners in a season on the horse Valfonic at Warwick on April 2, 2002.
McCoy was born in County Antrim in 1974, he began his career on the Flat races and gained his first winner, Legal Steps, at Thurles in March 1992. His first jumps winner came with the horse Riszard, who was also his first National Hunt ride, at Gowran in April 1994. He then decided to link up with Toby Balding for the 1994-95 season and rode his first winner in England on Chickabiddy at Exeter on September 7, 1994.
He then went on to have a magnificent partnership with Martin Pipe, after eight years of working with Pipe they decided to part company and he was quickly appointed as a retained jockey for millionaire owner JP McManus in 2004.
In a glittering career, McCoy has won the King George, the Queen Mother Champion Chase, the Cheltenham Gold Cup and the Champion Hurdle. The only thing left for McCoy to win is the Grand National which continues to be elusive to him in his unrelentless quest for the big-race triumphs.

There has been hundreds of arguments with Horse racing enthusiasts for years over the Kentucky Derby, with fans from The UK arguing that the English Derby is the biggest flat race in the world of flat racing and the US fans all saying that it is the Kentucky Derby, one thing is for certain though and that is this will be is an argument that will never be settled one way or the other.
Last year’s winner Big Brown who I feel was retired far too early to stud was built for this race with his powerful change of gear that no other horse seemed to cope with and if you ask me could have gone on to dominate racing around the World for a number of years but now we will never know.
BET NOW
The race itself ‘The Kentucky Derby’ is a Grade I stakes race that is only allowed for three year-old thoroughbred horses. The race is held every year in the Southern State of Louisville Kentucky on the first Saturday in May and the race actually caps the massive two-week-long Kentucky Derby Festival. The race is run over one and a quarter miles (2 km) at the picturesque Churchill Downs track which is one of the biggest racing stadiums in the World.
This race is one of them races that foreign trainers regularly try to do well in but due to the long hours travelling they have always suffered and will always do so in the future in my opinion. This year’s race will once again have the US race fans on tender hooks for the two minutes in which their hearts will be racing up and down and after the retirement of Big Brown I wonder which horse the US public will be talking about come May.

Bet on Horseraces – Trainer Colm Murphy believes his horse Brave Inca can win the Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Gold Cup event. The 11 year old won comfortably in the Toshiba Irish Champion Hurdle at Leopardstown. The 2006 Champion Hurdle winner had only just returned last Novemeber after injury had sidelined him for 19 months, but is showing signs of returning to his best form. Ridden by the experienced Ruby Walsh, he was made second favourite for the race at odds of 11-4.

The favourite, Sublimity, also a Cheltenham Festival winner, struggled on the soft ground and could only manage fourth place. This all sets up nicely for a strong looking field at Cheltenham this year, with previous winner Hardy Eustace and last year’s winner Katchit included in the stalls. Others to watch out for Snap Tie and the in-form Crack Away Jack. As for the Gold Cup race itself, punters will be glad to see that trainer Paul Nicholls has entered last year’s champion Denman, who has not raced since the last Gold Cup due to a heart problem. Former winner Kauto Star, also trained by Nicholls, isa also among the 38 entrants. Ireland’s main threat is from War of Attrition, the winner in 2006, but unfortunately Slim Pickings wont be there this year after having sustained a broken leg which meant he had to be put down. The last two weeks of Horse racing in the UK have been hit hard by the freezing conditions that have hit the courses all the around the British Isles very hard with many top class meetings having to be abandoned due to parts of the track just simply not being up to the task of being able to stage races with sub zero temperatures sweeping the country which shows no signs of stopping.
BET NOW
The only jump meeting to survive the blizzard over the weekend was funnily enough in the beautiful Scottish city of Ayr where you would have thought it would have been at its coldest! One trainer who will be glad that the meeting went ahead will be Howard Johnson who celebrated his 50th winner of the season just before the turn of the New Year and carried on his stables good form here in Ayr, the best race of the day at Ayr was the one in which two horses gave a great account of themselves with both Johnson’s Prince De Beauchene and Bracken lad serving up a cracker to warm up the crowd on this very cold day.
Denis O Regan is a jockey that seems to have grown in the past 12 months and he was on top of Prince De Beauchene who edged out Bracken lad and with two fences to go pulled away to give favourite backers a nice victory with him coming home at a decent 13/8 price because quite frankly he was head and shoulders above everything else and really should have been odds on at least.
With Paul Nicholls horses already bang in form and now Mr Johnsons horses going that way I can see some great battles coming up over the next few months with Cheltenham being at the forefront of both their minds I am sure.

The Kentucky Derby is probably the 2nd best known Horse race in the whole world behind the UK’s the Epsom Derby, with so many films made about the big race and the excitement it brings to everybody when it comes around it is hard to imagine another Horse race bringing such joy to people’s faces than the Kentucky Derby.
BET NOW
The Kentucky Derby is a Grade 1 stakes race for the Worlds best three year-old thoroughbred horses, it is held annually in Louisville Kentucky on the first Saturday in May and has all American Horse racing enthusiasts on the edge of their seats from the start to the finish.
The race itself was the brains of Col. Meriwether Lewis Clark Jr who after visiting England and France’s big Horse racing events returned to the States with a good idea on how to stage a big race and in 1875 in front of a 10000 crowd he put them plans into action and the Kentucky Derby was invented.
In the early years of the race it was solely American horses that entered the big race largely due to the long journey foreign trainers would have to put their horses through but in 1917 an English bred colt called Omar Khayyam became the first foreign-bred horse to win the race.
The American public actually call the race the best two minutes in sport and when you consider the size of the crowd that gathers at Kentucky every year to watch the massive race who can argue with them because it is one of them events that sends tingles down your spine when the race get’s underway.

The betting for the 2009 Champion Hurdle has become a lot clearer after a few of the leading contenders were in action recently.
PLAY NOW
The biggest mover of the leading fancies was Nicky Henderson’s Chomba Womba who was cut from around 25/1 into just 16s. The shortening price comes after the mare was successful in the Ascot Hurlde winning with plenty in hand to win by a length from fellow festival hope Crack Away Jack. It was a performance that capped and impressive run of form so far this season and she really looks to be developing into a top, top contender over timber.
As for Crack Away Jack it was a disappointing effort after such a good seasonal debut at Chepstow on his penultimate start. That said the trip of two miles three wouldn’t have suited him that well and he’ll be back at his best over two miles. The good things about last season’s Fred winter winner is that you can now get a juicy 8/1 from him to win the biggy at Cheltenham which seems great value.
Of the recent runs Binocular’s in the Befair Hurdle was by far the most impressive. Another contender for Nicky Henderson this four-year-old was never off the bridle when taking the race by a very easy three and quarter lengths and if anything was still being held at the finish. The worrying thing for his opponents is that he is entitled to improve again from that run and justifies favouritism in the Champion.
